Funding opportunities

Renewable Energies Source Act (EEG)
Solar power is attractively promoted by the German federal government, as the state has strong interest in increasing the share of renewable energies in the overall energy mix. Therefore the EnEV (Einspeiseverordnung = feed in regulation) guarantees that the electricity generated by your photovoltaic system will be purchased at fixed rates during a period of 20 years. The amendments of January 1st, 2011 also especially support the personal consumption of self-produced electricity. The current reimbursement rates according to EEG
Electricity from photovoltaic systems, which are connected to the grid from the 1/01/2011 is reimbursable as follows:
- Ground-mounted power plants: § 32 EEG 21.11 cents / kWh; conversion areas 22.07 cents / kWh
- PV systems mounted on or integrated into buildings with power up to 30 kWp: § 33 para 1 No 1 EEG, 28.74 cents / kWh
- PV systems mounted on or integrated into buildings with power between 30 and 100 kWp: § 33 para 1 No 2 EEG, 27.33 cents / kWh
- PV systems mounted on or integrated into buildings with power between 100 kWp and 1 MWp: § 33 para 1 No 3 EEG, 25.86 cents / kWh
- PV systems mounted on or integrated into buildings with power greater than 1 MWp: § 33 para 1 No 4 EEG, 21.56 cents / kWh
Other incentive programs
In addition to the regulations by the EEG, there are a number of attractive funding programs at state and regional levels, of which one can benefit in the case of new constructions as well as of roof refurbishments. The BSW, (Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft = Solar Industry Federation) provides an interactive solar funding consultant on its website. About Solar Promotion (BSW - Bundesverband Solar Industry)
KfW-Program "Renewable Energies"
Furthermore, the KfW („Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau“, Bank for Reconstruction and Development) promotes the investment in a solar power system by granting low-interest loans. Detailed information about the KfW program "Renewable energies" and the current interest rates can be obtained on www.kfw.de. Your local banks can support you in the loan applications procedures.
Support for the use of solar thermal energy
Investments in the solar heat generation are supported by the market incentive program "Renewable energy" of the BAFA (“Bundesamt für Wirtschaft und Ausfuhrkontrolle“, Federal Office of Economics and Export Control).
Tax advantages
As the operator of a photovoltaic system, you can benefit not only from attractive subsidies, but also from tax advantages. Consult your tax advisor.
