Press release
The new SYSTAIC energy roof at Construmat in Barcelona: "The perfect solution for the Mediterranean Region"
Excellence in aesthetics and a maximum of independence – at Construmat 2009 in Barcelona, systaic AG will be showcasing the new generation of its award-winning energy roof in Spain for the first time.
"Using the power of the sun, our product generates electricity, air conditioning and heat", explains Hans-Jörg Hölzenbein, Member of the Executive Board of systaic AG. "The SYSTAIC energy roof will make you independent of energy suppliers, protect you from rising commodity prices and, in addition, it will offer you an aesthetic system that is truly unique: Cast from a single mould and thus free from any unsightly elements it will adapt to the shape of any building – a real architectural asset. Also in terms of its functionality – particularly in the thermal area – the SYSTAIC energy roof is the perfect solution for new buildings and total refurbishments on the Iberian Peninsula as well as in the sun-spoilt climate of the entire Mediterranean Region."
The fact that our current energy roof has already won many innovation and architectural awards is a testimonial to its outstanding aesthetic design. From a visual perspective, the roof solution provided by SYSTAIC is exceptionally appealing as it combines the homogeneous design of ordinary roofs with the futuristic look of a harmoniously formed solar surface. Mounting conventional solar modules with differently coloured aluminium frames on buildings is a rather clumsy solution. With its uniformly coloured and square energy units, SYSTAIC installs real roof construction elements instead. Including matching windows and gutters, they constitute a functional and complete roof.
Both the high quality of the individual components and the energy efficiency of the SYSTAIC energy roof ensure future safety: In Spain a state-guaranteed feed-in tariff for solar power of EUR 0.34 per kilowatt hour currently applies to all relevant homes. If the entire roof surface is used, the energy roof will have paid for itself after just a few years. 2It is also for this reason", Hans-Jörg Hölzenbein comments, "that architects and builders should consider integrating our aesthetically designed energy roof in the planning process right from the beginning. It means investing for the future – by using a source of electricity, heat and air conditioning that is both rewarding and friendly to the environment."
The new SYSTAIC system – available from next year – even goes some steps further: Operated by an optimised heat pump system, the heat that is produced during photovoltaic power generation will be used. Instead of installing separate heat collectors, energy for space heat and hot water will be generated by specifically redirecting the waste heat. Required during the summer, cooling thus becomes a practical “by-product”. Furthermore, there is also the option of including an electric car in the system: Any excess electricity will be fed into a high-performance battery, guaranteeing a driving performance of up to 10,000 km per annum through solar power.
Already in 2009, the new SYSTAIC energy roof system won the "Innovation Award for Architecture and Construction". In addition, it has also been portrayed by a large number of television and radio stations in Germany. The fact that it attracts such a high interest is not only contributed to the highly attractive visual design of the energy roof; it is owed in particular to its high efficiency and the innovative manner in which solar energy is generated and stored. In terms of figures, all electricity and air conditioning – including power for "solar mobility" – that is required for one household can be met by the SYSTAIC energy roof.
Construmat, which takes place every two years at the trade fair centre Gran Via in Barcelona, is Spain's most important trade fair comprising more than 4,000 exhibitors and, with at least 280,000 visitors anticipated to attend, also one of the biggest and most prominent trade fairs to take place in Southern Europe. SYSTAIC will be showcasing its energy roof and the outlook for the new system in Pavillion 1, Stand D 457.
