SYSTAIC Automotive – solar solutions for cars

SYSTAIC has teamed up with its subsidiary Webasto Solar to become the world’s premier independent manufacturer of solar generators for different makes of cars. Integrated in the vehicle’s solar sunroof, they supply cool fresh air even when the engine is switched off, limit the energy used by the air-con system and thus lower fuel consumption by up to 0.5 litres per 100 km. Vehicle brands such as Audi, Bentley, Maybach, Seat and VW are already reaping the benefits from the power-generating solar sunroof that helps cut CO2 emissions.

SYSTAIC has been commissioned to develop new solar solutions for hybrid and electric cars by a range of reputable car manufacturers. For instance, the electric-powered Mercedes BlueZERO features a photovoltaic sunroof made by SYSTAIC Automotive. In this car, not only the relatively small sunroof area but the entire roof surface gets used for power generation. Already today, large-scale solar solutions by SYSTAIC cut vehicle fuel consumption by up to 12 %.
